Introduction to

The British College of Colon Hydrotherapy

 

Situated in the heart of Gloucester, the college boasts purpose built and dedicated teaching and demonstration rooms.

David Newman who founded the college has practised Colon Hydrotherapy for over 13 years and is the author of the book “Flushed with Success”.

The Course length is 100 hours that being 70 hours of supervised tuition and 30 hours of personal study and homework.

Learning support is available throughout the course and after you have qualified.

The course will conclude with a written and practical examination, upon successful completion of the examinations a diploma in Colonic Hydrotherapy will be awarded

The course will run over 10 days that being two five day weeks with a 2 week break in between for home study when 30 hours should be dedicated to studying and revision of the first weeks training.

The times that are given in the following pages must be adhered to so that all course material can be covered and there is time for student feedback.

The course will commence at 9.00am prompt and will run until 5pm.There will be two 15 minute breaks, 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the afternoon, also an hour for lunch. There are numerous cafes and wine bars in the vicinity to relax and enjoy your lunch.

Home Study

Students are expected to perform 30 hours of personal study and homework in the break between the two study weeks.

Examinations and Assessments

Students are continually assessed over the duration of the course through practical assessments and assignments.
The examinations will take place on the final day of week two.

Accommodation

Local accommodation and price guide is available on request, this ranges from hotels to Bed and Breakfast.

COURSE CONTENT

General

Terminology used in colonic treatments.

History and Philosophy of Colonic Hydrotherapy.

Anatomy & Physiology of Pelvis, Pelvic Floor, Colon, Rectum and Abdomen.

Functional & diagnostic aspects of Colon.

Faecal stool study.

Autonomic nervous system.

Laboratory studies

Herbs & implants; Iridology studies; Pathology; diseases, motility abnormalities & parasites.

Normal & pathogenic colon flora; Effect of pharmaceutical drugs on the colon.

Equipment; Room layout; Plumbing & Regulations; Sterilants & sterilisation techniques.

Manual techniques

Digital examination, Reasons for; - Size of Anus, Haemorrhoids or other abnormalities, Prostate size (in male patients), Angle of Rectum. Proper lubrication of anus and relaxation of sphincters. Insertion of instruments. Reassurance of the patient during the manual phase. Palpation of abdomen; Auscultation; Implants;.

Other

Contra indications for colonic hydrotherapy.

Office procedure. Case history taking. Use of robes, dress & patient care, (before, during and after treatment)

Office management.

Filing and file security: Accounting, Business plans, Professional indemnity insurance, local authority issues.

 

Week 1

Day 1

Will commence at 10am so as to allow for students travelling a distance to arrive.

After introductions, the rest of the day will be dedicated to theory and a treatment demonstration.

Day 2

Will commence at 9.00am and the day will be dedicated to practical training.

Day 3

Will commence at 9.00am and will be dedicated to practical training and A & P theory.

Day 4

Will commence at 9.00am and practical training will take place all day.

Day 5

Will commence at 9.00am and again practical training will take place all day.

Week one training will end at 3.00pm.

 

Week 2

Day 1

The day will commence at 10.00am and will be dedicated to reviewing the first weeks training and any problems that students may have arising from the first weeks training.

Day2

Will commence at 9.00am and practical training will take place all day today.

Day 3

Will commence at 9.00am and practical training will take place all day today.

Day 4

Will commence at 9.00am and practical training will take place all day today.

Day5

Will commence at 9.00am and Examinations will take place all day today.
The day will end at approximately 5.00pm.


Terms and conditions of payment

A non-refundable deposit of £750 must accompany all course applications.
Outstanding course balance must be paid at least 7 days prior to course commencement.
Please note that deposits are non-refundable under any circumstances.
In the event of a student failing to attend the course for any reason (example personal problems, illness, change of mind) no refunds will be made and no automatic entitlement to later-date courses will be gained.
The British College of Colon Hydrotherapy will not be held responsible for any
losses incurred through cancellation or postponement of any courses.
Rules and Regulations

Paying for and / or attending a course does not guarantee a qualification, diploma or certificate of achievement. These are gained by successful completion of the course assignments, assessments and examinations. It is the decision of the awarding bodies to qualify a student.
Students must at all times maintain their own personal hygiene, as body contact on courses of this nature is essential.
Hair should be worn off the face and tied back if necessary.
Nails should be short, clean and neat.
No jewellery to be worn during practical classes.
No drinks or food to be consumed in the classrooms.
Mobile phones are not allowed in lessons.
Examination regulations state 80% of the course needs to be attended for the examination to take place.
Absences in excess of this will mean that the student will have to take the examinations later.
The British College of Colon Hydrotherapy reserves the right to amend the syllabus without prior notice
